ORTA Benefits & Medicare Q & A
My name is Jim Cain; Manager, OH for AMBA. AMBA is the endorsed Benefit Administrator for your Ohio Retired Teacher Association www.orta.org. My team and I travel the State meeting with Ohio’s retired educators explaining the supplemental benefits that, “button-up” the areas Ohio’s retired educators Major Medical (Medical Mutual) and Medicare (Aetna) plans fall short / leave us at risk of catastrophic medical expense.
Despite the ORTA’s quarterly newsletter (now electronic) and AMBA’s campaign, with 139,000+ retired educators in OH and only 11 AMBA Benefit Representatives, we’re reaching less than 30% of our Retirees. We want to thank Jerry and the WCRTA Officers in advance for helping us share word of ORTA’s Group Benefits and your eligibility. We will be speaking at WCRTA’s Tuesday, April 24th @ 11:00a - Wayne County Career Center Restaurant (518 W. Prospect, Smithville, OH).
In addition to making ourselves available to answer general Health and Medicare questions (inc. Aetna), we will be highlighting and answering questions specific to our Member’s keys areas of risk. We refer to our most significant risks include as, “The Big 3”. They include Long Term (i.e. Home Health, Assisted Living and / or Skilled Nursing Home) Care, Cancer, Medical Transport and as of 1.1.18, a Home Health / Short Term Care option for Members that cannot medically qualify for, or afford, traditional Long Term Care.
In addition to protecting our retiree’s estates from The Big 3, we often find we can save Members money. If you have a spouse, “piggy-backing” on your STRS Aetna (or Alt-Care) plan, we’ll explain how we’re saving Members $1,500 to $4,000 annually. If your spouse is on you Aetna Medicare plan, you need this information. And BRING YOUR SPOUSE!
While our presentation will be short & sweet, we will stay after the meeting / make ourselves available to meet with anyone that would like to discuss their benefits. Additionally, we’ve proactively carved out Wednesday, April 25th & Thursday April 26th to meet with Wayne County Members individually. While Members can always come to Columbus, we will do what we can to accommodate Member availability while in the area.
We look forward to seeing everyone on April 24th and PLEASE call (614) 946-4868 / get me on your calendar ahead of time should you wish to discuss your benefits individually. Ours calendars will fill quickly.
Best of Health,
Jim
